Brittany MurphyBrittany Murphy

Sad news about Brittany Murphy’s passing at age 32. But let’s not get carried away with her acting career as the media over-hype the abilities of this promising young actress. I dare say she was good in Clueless and outstanding in Girl, Interrupted. Other than that, the few films she appeared in were less than mediocre, but she was much better than the lame scripts given to her.

Speculation about Brittany Murphy’s Death Causes

Large amounts of prescription drugs were found in Brittany Murphy’s bedroom when paramedics were called to her Los Angeles home on Sunday, a law enforcement source close to the investigation into the 32-year-old actress’ sudden death confirmed to Fox411.com Tuesday.

“A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent’s name,” TMZ first reported after reviewing what they say were notes made by an investigator from the L.A. County Coroner’s office. “Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent’s husband’s name, the decedent’s mother’s name, and unidentified third party names.”

Fox411.com can exclusively report that investigators are focusing on Murphy’s drug use, and that the working theory of her cause of death is accidental overdose, according to the law enforcement source.

Investigators are waiting to see what combination of drugs was in her system, and if other non-prescription drugs are revealed in the toxicity report, the source says.

Heroin and cocaine are among the drugs being tested for because of reports of Murphy’s alleged past abuse of both, the source adds.

The Los Angeles County Coroner did not respond immediately for a request for comment.

However, Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told Fox News that they did not find any illegal drugs in Murphy’s residence.

He also said his office is investigating how TMZ obtained their information on the Murphy investigation.

“We are looking into possible discipline for whoever leaked information from her autopsy report,” he told Fox News. “I cannot confirm the list of prescription drugs on TMZ.com’s website, but I can tell you that they do have a partial report, and that’s a problem, because the notes for this report were on a secure hold.”

The medications found in the Murphy’s bedroom included:

- Topamax

- Methylprednisolone

- Fluoxetine

- Klonopin

- Carbamazepine

- Ativan

- Vicoprofen

- Propranolol

- Biaxin

- Hydrocodone

- Vitamins.

A law enforcement source also confirmed to Fox411.com TMZ’s account of the frantic efforts to revive Murphy by her mother, Sharon, and her husband, Simon Monjack, before paramedics arrived.

Citing the same L.A. Coroner’s Office official’s notes, the website said the actress went into the bathroom alone early Sunday morning. Her mother found her unresponsive on the floor a half-an-hour later. Monjack responded to her mother’s screams, and put Brittany Murphy in the shower to try to revive her while her mother called 911.

Murphy “had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain” for the previous 7 to 10 days, TMZ quoted from the notes.

Authorities said Monday it appeared actress Brittany Murphy died of natural causes after becoming ill with flulike symptoms in the days before she collapsed in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said an autopsy had been conducted and officials were awaiting the results of toxicology and tissue testing before determining an official cause of death.

It could take up to six weeks before a determination is made public.

Paramedics tried to revive Murphy early Sunday, but she was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The hospital said she died of cardiac arrest.

The autopsy found no signs of trauma to the body of the 32-year-old star of “Clueless” and “8 Mile.”

Police did not suspect foul play.

Brittany Murphy’s carreer after death

Brittany Murphy’s  music may be released now after her death according to some music executives that want to release some previously unreleased songs made by Brittany Murphy.
Three years ago, Brittany Muphy had a pretty successful song with Paul Oakenfeld called Faster Kill Pussycat, and she also sang covers of Somebody to Love, and Boogie Wonderland from the 2006 film Happy Feet.

Sources told the E! Online reporter that music executives are digging to see what else they can find.

“Obviously this isn’t a Michael Jackson thing, but people are definitely interested in Brittany and her story,” one executive tells me. “Depending on what she may have recorded and what kind of quality it is, she could end up having a hit song or two.”

Brittany Murphy actually used to be in a band called Blessed Soul in the early 90s, which she formed with 24 star Eric Balfour.

“Everyone’s devastated. Everyone’s in shock,” Balfour told HollywoodLife.com earlier this week. “It’s a tragedy…life is fragile.”

Actress Brittany Murphy was ill with flu-like symptoms in the days before she died and prescription medications were taken from her home, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Monday.

Tests are still being conducted to determine what killed the 32-year-old star of films such as Clueless and 8 Mile, who collapsed Sunday in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.

Paramedics tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The hospital said she died of cardiac arrest.

The flu-like symptoms were reported to authorities by members of Murphy’s family.

Assistant chief coroner Ed Winter said an autopsy has been completed on Murphy’s body, but a determination of the cause of death won’t be made until the office receives the results of other tests, including toxicology and an analysis of the brain and other organs.

This typically takes four to six weeks, Winter said, adding that examiners found “no evidence of trauma to the body.”

Police also said there was nothing suspicious about Murphy’s death.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

“The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy,” her husband, Simon Monjack, and her family wrote in a statement. “She was our daughter, our wife, our love, and a shining star.”

Born in Atlanta on Nov. 10, 1977, Murphy grew up in New Jersey and moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue an acting career. She broke into the business in the early 1990s with small roles in various commercials, TV series — including Frasier and Party of Five — and movies.

Her part in Clueless led to larger projects and her role in 8 Mile led to wide recognition. “That was the difference between people knowing my first and last name as opposed to not,” she said in an interview in 2003.

Murphy also found work in voiceovers, including voicing the character Luanne on the animated series King of the Hill as well as Gloria the penguin in Happy Feet.

She is due to appear in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables, set for release next year.

Throughout her career, Murphy mentioned her mother as being the bedrock of her success.

“When I asked my mom to move to California, she sold everything and moved out here for me,” Murphy said in 2003. “I was really grateful to have grown up in an environment that was conducive to creating and didn’t stifle any of that. She always believed in me.”

Before her marriage to Monjack, she dated Ashton Kutcher, who co-starred with Murphy in the romantic comedy Just Married.

Kutcher posted a Twitter message Sunday morning about Murphy’s death: “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.”
